Senate District 16 is composed of all of Mille Lacs county as well as parts of Benton, Morrison, and Sherburne counties.  Cities in Senate District 16 include Bock, Foley, Foreston, Giman, Hillman, Isle, Lastrup, Milaca, Onamia, Pease, Princeton, Ronneby, Wahkon, Becker, Big Lake, Clear Lake, Elk River, and Zimmerman. 

Some of the largest employees in the district include Grand Casino Mille Lacs, Crystal Cabinets, Fairview Northland Hospital, Becker Furniture World, Great River Energy, and Xcel Energy.

Senate District 16 is also a very diverse district.  Much of the split are the differences from north and south.  Agriculture is a significant part of the district economy.  Tax base and incomes very quite drastically from one area of the district to another.
